V8.3 Test Environments

Overview

It is highly recommended that a test environment (or instance) be created for testing and validation before upgrading your production system. Your test instance should reside on a separate server than your current production Empower environment.

System Requirements

Your test environment should consist of:

  • SQL Server 2012 or greater (Recommended: SQL Server 2016)
  • Windows Server 2003 or greater (Recommended: Windows Server 2012)
  • .NET Framework 4.8 or greater Internet Information Services 8.0 or greater

Test Databases

You can use either the blank or demonstration databases provided by Empower.

However, for best results, you should create backups of your current Empower databases and restore them on your test instance.

You can use the Server Wizard to backup and restore your databases, or use the built-in Backup and Restore capabilities provided by SQL Server and the SQL Server Management Studio.
